Currently have....
Samsung 6167 DLP 61" 720p Denon 3805 Amp Samsung BDP1400 Bluray Mirage M3si fronts Klipsch Center Polk surrounds JBL backs Line conditioner etc... Need help with the TV upgrade and Amp upgrade Love the Denon 3805!!!! Need HDMI though Love the Samsung 61" but want 1080p and maybe even 120hz option Considering the 2308, 2808, 3808 Denons Not too sure about the Yamahas or Onkyos in the similar ranges.... Saw a sony 60" DLP SONKDS60A300 that had the 120hz option and the picture looked great. Anybody know much about the 73" Mitsubishi DLP??? Just need some input on the amp choice and the TV choice 60"+ LCD or DLP Thanks guys! |

andy,
Wow, you've got some great questions! You fortunately have a Blu-ray player, so to truly exploit the audio you will need to get a new receiver. I like Denon, and any of the ones you've listed are solid players. Andrew Robinson did the Onkyo 805 receiver and still raves about it, I have heard many others in the business rave about Onkyo. I haven't used them yet, so can't comment on them, but you should check them out and try to listen for yourself (the ultimate test!) As for TV, I've seen some really nice RPTV's, I personally bought the Sony XBR2 70". I am not a big fan of the Mitsu line, and I seem to recall Kevin Miller wasn't either.

Andy,
I seconf what kennyt says. Onkyo has always made a solid product. Not that Denon doesn`t. But, I`ve had more experience with them. If your looking at the top Denons, then look at the Onkyo TX-NR 905 and TX-SR875 receivers. And like kennyt said, definitely listen and compare. Then add in ease of use, connectivity, and you will be good. Take time to read Andrew Robinson`s article on the Onkyo 805. Also, the Yamaha RX-V861, WHICH aNDREW LIKED VERY MUCH AS WELL. If you like DSP sound fields and playing around with the surround sound, then the Yamaha might be the ticket. Enjoy, bring your own music and movies.............. |
