LED supplement?

Hi all,
I have a 27 gal cube tank with a Marineland Double bright LED strip. I was recently told that I would have to supplement this light in order to have success with corals. I was looking at the Innovative Marine Led strips. They come in 10k and 14k. Would this be suitable for supplemental lighting? If so should i get the 10k or the 14k? I am still a newbie at saltwater and any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I have seen a couple people using these sting type LEDs and creating larger LED panels with 600-1200 LED bulbs on them, nice thing is they can be powered by a 12 volt battery so they are very portable and don't need a power source, perfect for location shooting. Also if you mount them on foam core they are very light so you could pin them to a roof or whatever to hide them...

My question, as good as they sound for the price and the little bit of DIY work, how do you figure they would work? Would they provide enough light to be useful? Thoughts?

My bathroom and kitchen has spotlights, but these are 12V, from a transformer. I was going to replace them with LED spots to save power, but now seeing they are 12V, I assume most power is lost through the transformer anyway? Is there any point me replacing them?
