I was in my local BB the other day and was taken back by the 65+ inch LCD displays they had on the floor for major $$$. However, right next to them was their remaining stock of rear/pro HD TV's which were larger in more instances and cost less than the sales tax on these big LCD panels. I know rear/pro is going the way of the dinosaur soon but man, if I was trying to get into HD or HT and had the room to table mount or build a rear pro into my wall I'd do it in a heart beat. The picture in many regards is superior to large LCD and plasma displays but the prices now can not be beat! Seriously I saw a brand new 60 inch Sony for under a grand.

Rear Pro has always been the best deal out there.
Everyone wants a FLAT HDTV and the market speaks. If you can get a rear pro - you can ROCK a huge HDTV for a tiny investment....

I am so pi$$ed that Sony stopped making rear projection TV's.
My 70" XBR2 is an amazing set & it would have cost a fortune to get the same size & have the same quality picture in a plasma or LCD! I just hope that by the time I need to replace my XBR2 they have a 70" OLED in 1080p for the same price I gave for my XBR2! |

I wish this had happened before I dropped $4K on my RPTV!!!
When I replace that thing, it will be by closing off the room and putting in ~120" of Starglass and a good projector behind it!

Loving my Sony KDS-60A3000. I tried to convince my brother to go rear projection but he wasn't having it, he had to have a flat screen... then he saw my set.
