HI Moose,
I have calibrated several of those sets, and definitely recommend them. Actually all the Blue-ray software is playable at 1080p/24. Enjoy!

Hey Guys,
I'm new to the forum. I saw the comments on the SXRD & wanted to give some feedback.. I also bought the KDS-R70XBR2 in October 06. I'm an Engineer for Cablevision Systems Corp (Over 20 years) so I have the full HD lineup. I found this HDTV to be stunning as far as PQ is concerned.. I've seen a lot of displays & this one knocked me off my feet when I saw it! I use my PS3 Blu-Ray player to show off 1080p content. All I can say is WOW!.. The pdf states the minimum viewing distance at 8' 4 inches. Can't go wrong with this beauty... Tom F |

Tom,
Welcome to the forum, I too run this set in my main system as I absolutely can not control light in that room and it gives me a huge stunning 1080p picture. I love the removable side speakers as well as I only ever use a TV as a monitor anyway so I can make it a little smaller.

Hello Ken,
Thanks for the welcome message! I agree with the 1080p looking stunning. When I'm watching Blu-Ray or viewing PS3 1080p games it just blows away the competition. As I write this I'm watching Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) on RAVE HD (VOOM) It's in 1080i & it's really incredible on the 70' LCoS SXRD. My audio setup is 5.1 Sony Dream Theater. I bought this because it has SACD capability. I play the multichannel dark side of the moon SACD when I want to show people what there missing (compared to regular 2 track 44.1 KHz audio) Back to the Sony SXRD. I'm hoping that if we ever go to MPEG-4 AVC Compression, we'll all be getting 1080p through the cable..right now at MPEG-2 it's a bandwidth issue..(19.39 Mbit/s vs 38.8 Mbit/s) Regards, Tom F |

I'm waiting for the next big jump in internet bandwidth when we can just get it all on line... Imagine every movie ever made in your home immediately? Pretty cool when it happens..
