Krell Evolution 202 vs ML #32 vs Audio Research ref 3

I'm just curious whether anyone on the board has heard of these pre-amps. I am in the middle to considering changing pre-amps. Problem is that each product is carried by a different dealer where I leave. My current system consist of Levinson 380/432 and Krell SACD standard and Watt/puppy 7. I think all pre-amps are in same price range (AR might be cheaper) I know that AR ref 3 would sound much different that the rest but what intrique me was that a few years back I was told David Wilson used AR ref preamp with ML 33H to demo his Alexandrias.

Talk to each dealer and bring each one home for a demo. That is the only way you will ever know which is best suited to your tastes. Yes, it involves some leg work. The dealers should understand and allow you this demo.

All of these are great pre's, but you need to live with it, so prove to yourself which you like best, and buy that one.

I've heard the ML32 and the Ref 3 - no such luck with the Krell.

I certainly agree with Ken that you need to spend some time with each
- in YOUR system - before writing the check.

I ended up with the Ref3's little brother, the LS26, and seriously doubt
that I'll ever own another pre-amp without tubes in it.

It's hard to put into words how they change your system - but once you hear
it you will likely not forget it.
