For years, McIntosh has been a favorite of mine. Their reputation of build quality, and reliability I always felt were second to none. And it is great within the last 2 - 3 years to see mags like Stereophile and the Absolute Sound begin to review them again. Also, i take some pride in that they are built in the USA. Binghamton, N.Y. They still offer a two hour tour where you can experience how they build these amplifiers.

This summer I plan to take it.
A great review for a great company that has stood the test o time.

I enjoyed the review; the Mc sounds like a great Preamp.

Curious to know if anyone reading this has ever checked out Supratek's Chardonnay Preamp. I bought one late last year and was so impressed by it, I recently acquired a pair of their 100wpc Monoblocks to mate with it. Now, I have trouble picking my jaw up off the floor while listening to my system. : )

Vastly different background between the two companies - about as far apart as could be in every aspect from size to design philosophy (electrical and asthetics).
