Runco International introduces its 103-inch flat panel, the CinemaWall™ XP-103DHD. A true statement piece for the most discerning of home theater customers, the XP-103DHD plasma display brings world-famous Runco engineering and design quality to the ultra-large 1080p full-HD plasma category.
“Runco continues to provide leading-edge product to our exclusive network of dealers and highest-echelon customers looking for display solutions that are truly enviable,” said Scott Hix, vice president and general manager, Planar Systems Inc. Home Theater. “This breathtaking plasma display epitomizes the heritage and reputation of the Runco brand with a luxury display that complements the exclusive lifestyle.” The CinemaWall XP-103DHD delivers 1920 x 1080 native resolution, provides ISF™ calibration modes for the installer’s convenience and addresses the unique needs of the most demanding customers. It includes DVI with HDCP and RS-232 inputs for connection to its outboard DHD Digital Controller. Runco’s next-generation DHD features a wealth of inputs and switching, and incorporates Runco’s ViVix II™ digital video processing technology, which prevents distortion-causing “double scaling.” The DHD provides premium aspect ratio control, optimizing signal reproduction for anamorphic, letterbox and 4:3 content, and its VirtualWide™ technology converts 4:3 video to the display’s native 16:9 while retaining image integrity. The DHD’s Orthogonal Line Correction adjusts for unwanted time-elapsed artifacts. For film-oriented programming, the DHD provides 3:2 and 2:2 pull-down for maximum-quality playback. The CinemaWall XP-103DHD will be available in December 2007, and it will carry an MSRP of $99,995. |

We have a review of the Pannasonic up this month at
http://www.avrev.com/equip/panasonic_103inch_plasma/ I am not sure how different they are or even if Runco buys their glass from Panasonic. I can say the Runco 65 inch plasma is REALLY good and their customer service is top notch. They are also the only THX certified video brand I know of to date. For video, the THX spec is pretty tough.

Hi Jerry,
Actually I would bet both the 103 and the 65-inch are Panasonic OEMs as Panasonic is the only company with those screen sizes.

You likely need to reinforce the wall in your house to install it.
If this is like the Panasonic - you also will need a 240 volt AC feed. It IS pretty big however....

You know Jerry, I was on the THX site a few times reviewing their qualifications to be certified. It is no joke. You can make an argument that if all your equipment is THX - certiified, it would probably guarantee some things, make some things easier for yourself and custom installer, and rule some other things out.
I had no idea how extensive they were. Question though, an exclusive and flagship no holds barred product like this, unless I`m missing something here, why are we still talking DVI, and not HDMI here? |
