Joel Silver had one of the 720p Elite models at our isf training in Boca last week and it has the best black levels that I've ever seen on a plasma (considerably better than last year's model which was also there). These are stunning sets and should be high on anyone's wish list.

I agree so much that I just went out and bought the pro-110fd on inpulse. It was really weird since for the past year I have been researching lcd tv's planning on going that rout so this was something totaly unplanned but I got a really good deal.
I did not hear about the gray bar issue but have heard that some people have heard a high pitched sound being emitted. Will the gray bar issue be something that can be fixed with a software upgrade? |

Perhaps the grey bars are there for a reason. My brother's Samsung 5054 began to show screen burn in the area where the side bars are black. If there is a high contrast difference between the black bars and program material apparently burn in occurs. Judging from what I read in manuals from Panasonic,Pioneer and Samsung, they warn of burn in problems of various sorts. It is possible that Pioneer decided to leave the sidebars grey in order to avert a sidebar burn in problem when the bars are black.
