Help me decide...Plasma/LCD-LED
I want to get a new TV, I have a 5 year old Samsung Plasma 42 inch TV that is 720. I want to move up to a 46 or a 50 and I want 1080 to get the most out of our HD cable and Blu-Ray. I am trying to decide between getting another Plasma or getting an LCD-LED tv. I am totally on the fence and I cannot make a decision. I have gone to our local Best Buy and looked at the TVs, the LCD-LEDs have such a clear crisp picture compared to the Plasma on display but it that just the calibration at the store? Are thy trying to push the LCD-LED tvs? The LED-LCD tv looks brighter as well, again is that just the calibration?
The TVs I am looking at are below, a Samsung LCD and a Panasonic Plasma. I have never owner a Panasonic TV before but I understand they are on par with the high end Pioneer Plasmas because Panasonic now has many of the Pioneer engineers working for them. I want to get a TV but I cannot decide, any help anyone has will be greatly appreciated. Samsung LCD-LED $1299 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+...&skuId=9784657 Panisonic Plasma $1099 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasoni...&skuId=9788953 |

The Panasonic is the better buy, imo.

Re: Help me decide...Plasma/LCD-LED
I have a Samsung LED TV, and it was definitely worth getting.
Plasma is a dying/dead technology and they add a lot of heat to your room. It's worth the extra $200 for the LED TV + it comes with free shipping. |
Re: Help me decide...Plasma/LCD-LED
The money is not really an issue, I am more concerned about the quality of the TV more so than the price. I do not want a TV that is going to be out of date in a year but on the other hand I do not want to buy the newest techology because it is the newest techology and that is what people are buying.

Wish I had the space you had to install a biiiggg 50 incher. I'm stuck trying to find a lcd, led, plasma(oops old dying tech), that will fit a 35 7/8 inch opening. Love to get a 37" sony ex700 but they only make 32 and 40" and don't really want a 32. Try crutchfield. Keep in mind that with a larger screen a higher refresh rate "120-240hz" should be checked into. Per crutchfield tech. Was told on larger screens 60hz is noticable/slow. Good luck. David M |
Re: Help me decide...Plasma/LCD-LED
If Plasma is chosen by someone,I wonder which model number is the best, short of buying the new expensive 3D movie capable models. Are the S series models with low reflective screen and if I heard correctly, which are significantly less power consuming vampires the way to go.
