I have Panasonic TH-42PX80U 720p connected to a Motorola DCT6400 PHASE lll DVR (HDMI Cable)- What would be the best setting to use on the Motorola DCT6400 - 1080i or 720p? Also about to purchase a blue-ray player (not sure what brand yet) what should I expect for picture/settings? I'm aware it wouldn't be 1080p - & what about sound - I will be using an optical cable to connect the Blue-ray to my older receiver (dolby-digital 5.1) and HDMI to connect it to my TV.

I do not know if anyone answered your question, depending which peace of equipment ( Cable box or TV) has the best processor. If your happy with your cable box run it at 720p. this way your tv will not have to process the signal. Or if your tv processor works better let your tv do the work and run it at 1180i.
