40" and larger OLED TVs in 2009!
"Sumitomo Chemical said that in 2009, it plans to launch the production and sales of large-screen OLED display panels for use in televisions of 40 inches or larger."
I can hardly wait to see these! http://www.japancorp.net/Article.Asp?Art_ID=18088 |

That will be great as the Sony is too small to even assess picture quality.

This is the future, the question is expect to pay a premium ie $25,000 like when the first Plasm a came out seven years ago!
This mean Costco will be selling them in five years from now at $2,000 for a 60i, I love technology. |

I saw 50" prototypes a few weeks back for a company I'm probably not safe in naming. These units look stunning, but I was unable to ascertain if they had motion issues or the like. I'm still thinking they will initially be massive sticker shock items.

50" OLED prototype?

They have even had a 40" prototype since at least as far back as 2005: http://www.dimagemaker.com/article.php?articleID=308 I think the biggest technical problem to date with the prototypes has been screen longevity. Hmm. A 50" proto? OK, I am stumped. Please don't keep us in suspense any longer! |
