I got mine in October of '06 & it's still on it's original bulb too.
My 5 year warranty includes bulbs so I figure it may use 2 bulbs in 5 years & that'll more than pay for the extended warranty.

I've had the service guys out 2 times on my set, HDNET puts up a test pattern on early Sunday mornings & I noticed my picture wasn't quite centered so I had them fix that, the second time was to fix it from going into the service menu every time I turned it on!
It seems the tech didn't exit the service menu correctly so it opened every time I turned it on.

rlpiii for the $7000 MSRP of this set (I paid nowhere near that though) it better be built like a tank!!
We have a couple of Sony Wega CRT's in the family that are going strong after many years of use.

Saw the TV at CES this year and last year. The picture is phenominal. They also showed a 26" version. It's like looking out you picture window. Being a Sony distributor, if any of you are interested, I will sell them for $2010.00. However there may be a wait since they are highly allocated.

I know I`m old school, but CRT`s, especially those SONY`s XBR`s, were and still are great TV`s. And they don`t have all those issues that all of the new technology (LCD`s, DLP`s, SXRD, PLASMA, I-DLA, projector) have.

We`ll see what happens with these sets. I think the jury is still out right now on OLED.

I'd love to see one, 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio sounds out of this world!

I still haven't made it to the Sony Style store, too busy with all the rest f life, but will get there soon and report back if they have one.
