I absolutely love Halloween and all the horror flicks that go with it and am
looking for some new ones to add to my collection. I'm especially interested in some of the not-so-well-known titles that I haven't seen. Yes I know this is a completely selfish thread... but I'm okay with that. ![]() So lets hear it, what are your favorites. Classics: For my money nothing will scare the $h1t out of me like "The Exorcist' - it's the one movie that will keep me freaked out for a week or so after watching it. 'The Shining' is another one that stays with me for several days. Hitch**** movies are great too. (<- edit - I just had to laugh that the filter caught that) Recent: I just watched '28 weeks later' and really like it as well as it's predecessor '28 days later'. The remake of 'Halloween' by Rob Zombie was pretty damn good - except it went on about 30 minutes longer than it should have. |

Very good thread here. Right up my alley. I agree, "Halloween is a classic. Probably a little out dated for todays folk, but a bonified classic. Vertigo,Rear Window, Dial M for Murder and the Birds, are some of my favorite Hitch**** movies. But, I could watch them all.
However, I`m a big fan of the original horror movies of the past. Some years ago during this time period, the SCI - Fi channel would run these classics right up to Halloween. And sadly, do not anymore, instead playing the weak movies in their 4th or 5th film. To me after the sequel, the rest are no good. They are: Dracula, The Wolfman (my favorite), Frankenstein, Frankenstein meets the Wolfman (another favorite), the Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Mummys Curse, Creature From The Black Lagoon, It, the terror from Beyond Space, Godzilla(The original with Raymond Burr), The Behemoth from 20,000 fathoms, King Kong (the original), though the latest remake is very good!! Bela Legosi, Lon Chaney Jr. John Carradine, and some others were the classics to choose from in my opinion. And there is something eerie about watching a black and white film. I`m glad they never clorizied them. |

OK, the Exorcist scared the living poop out of me when I was a kid, and it's still pretty good.
Want a film to freak you out? Not true classic horror, but it is horrid... Requiem for a Dream, just thinking of this movie gets me... I boughtand watched it then the wife heard about it and wanted to watch it. I told her she'd have to do it alone (I later caved, and it was easier than the first time but...) Don't have the kids around for this one folks....

I'm more old school, I prefer movies like Night of the Living Dead to the torture porn of Hostel & Saw.
