DIY or CI?
Do you Do It Yourself with your electronics or do you hand it off to the professional Custom Installers?
While I had the pros pre-wire my house when I built it I'm in the DIY camp, besides my own I do my relatives & friends systems also. Of course most everyone I know doesn't have really extravagant systems, most are under $10K. However with my recent purchase of the Denon 3808CI I may be getting together with my dealer who is a Custom Installer since there are things in the Denon that only a Custom Installer can do. |
Re: DIY or CI?
I do it all myself, but as a reviewer and someone who prior to that frequently changed gear out it is just too expensive to have someone do it for you. Sure it would look better, but my rig sits in a hidden corner of the room so a little mess is fine by me for the cost savings.

Re: DIY or CI?
I`m sure some of this will be determined by the complexity of the system. Multi - room and zones, having remotes programmed for the family, lighting, etc. Where you can, DIY, and the rest, leave to custom installers.

Re: DIY or CI?
I do it myself. If needed on complex equipment I might break down and actually read the instructions! I am considering professional calibration for my audio/video.
