Default Patriots vs. McLaren Racing - both cheat

Recently the New England Patriots (who likely cheated when they stole a rightful Super Bowl from my Morman coached Eagles) got caught video taping an opposing team's signals. They got fined this week $500,000 and a few conditional draft picks based on their position in the draft.

From Europe comes news that McLaren Racing got caught with an entire dossier from Ferrari on their race program and were fined $100,000,000!!!!!!!

Where is the equity in this?

I've never been a fan of the Pats and Belly-chick but the whole video taping thing is too much. The smugness of that entire team has always been a point of contension for a lot of people and then to pull a stunt like this against one of their own former coaches. That just took a pair of brass ones I don't even think Belly-chick has. Personally, I don't think the punishment is hard enough. Beyond the video equipment on the sidelines, they were caught cheating, and after being warned no less. Several times. I think he should have been suspended.

Or better yet, if the Pats make the Super Bowl, he's not allowed to coach the game. Ohhhh, not allowed to coach the entire post season should they make it. Then we'll see how good they really are...

Just a thought.

They call Formula 1 the F1 circus for a reason!!
Former Ferrari team manager Nigel Stepney (sp?) stole the documents & gave them to his new team (McLaren).
There has always been "team sniping" where you hire someone from another team but it was for the info in his head, not documents or cd-roms full of tech data.
McLaren had already been found guilty but was not given much of a penalty because they couldn't prove they had actually used the info.
Here's where the circus kicks in!
2 time & current F1 champion Alonso is getting whipped by his rookie team mate Hamilton & doesn't like it, he blackmails team boss Ron Dennis to either get rid of Hamilton or he tells the FIA (governing body) exactly what McLaren really did with Ferrari's info!!
So to save face Dennis tells the FIA himself & gets the 100 million dollar fine & loss of all constructors points for the 07 & 08 seasons!!

Now the 100 million isn't as big of a deal to McLaren as the constructors points are!
The fine won't actually be paid out of pocket, it will be deducted from McLaren's points fund (prize money, travel expenses, ETC) which can add up to 50 million a season.
it's hard to convey how much points mean in F1, the tail end teams want just 1 point in the season, with that all of their travel expenses are paid for (10 million dollars or so), pit & paddock spots are assigned by constructors points, so McLaren by having 0 constructors points will have the last choice for pits & a smaller paddock area (which means they won't have space for their 100 million dollar paddock center!
Points mean status in F1, the teams could care less who wins the drivers championship as long as they win the constructors championship, & really when you compare the billions spent in F1 compared to the millions spent in the NFL the Patriots fine & the McLaren fine are more equal than they look.

I could go on & on about this, as I am a huge F1 fan, but I'm sure most of you don't understand or care about F1 politics but lets just say that Hillary & Rudy are the best of friends compared to McLaren & Ferrari!

Very interesting Andrew. I`m a big New York Football Giants Fan. Since I was 9 years old. Bell, was a great defensive coach for us. But, after being named the New England Patriots coach and having some success, I think he is pretty stuck on himself, smug, and not a picture of.... Anyway, cheating, is cheating. And while people in the NFL and on ESPN say that our new commisioner can down real hard on Belichek, I agree with you in that he should have been suspended. For at least two games.

Now check this, on WFAN 660am radio on Mike and the Mad Dogs show, it has been suggested that while Mangini was coaching there, he probably was in on it. And since leaving, Belichek publicly has treated him like crap, so they are saying maybe ManGenius warned Belichek and said, don`t pull that stuff when you come to New York, or else. And that is why he got caught!!
An interesting theory. What do you guys think?

I think the pats might have gotten a 3 point advantage in the Super Bowl against my Eagles.

I also think Andy Reed - a Morman by faith - isn't likely to do the same trickery. Its just unethical.

Perhaps they owe Philly some hardware?

Probably. This leaves many things in doubt now. Yes, like other teams, New England does and had in the past, some great players, but dependng on how long this was in effect, I will always question these Super Bowls.

Steroids anyone!!
