burn tivo recordings onto DVD

Hello, I used to convert some recordings from my Tivo to mpeg 2 so that I can burn them to DVD. After converting the file, the video seems to be very pixilated and terrible. Is there any way to fix this problem? The video that I am converting is an HD video.
