Cigars

Ken, that was a nice article on cigars.

I am surprised that you did not have any from Costa Rica which is where I hear a lot of cigar ingredients are imported from.
One of my favorite aromas is the inside of a good humidor - I really like the walk-ins at the shops.

Did you decide not to put prices for the illegals on purpose, or do you just not know?

Even an "alleged" price range would have been interesting to see.

Re: Cigars

Well, it depends on so many thing, were you buy them, and the exchange rate in that country plus what grade of cigars they are. Case in point, when I last bought a box of Cohiba Robusto's in Harrod's, for top quality and due to the exchange rate they were $525/25. they would be much more now due to the worsening exchange rate.

Generally I have found true Cohiba Robusto's (my personal fav) to run closer to $30, the Partegas 898, my second choice can be ~$22, while the Trinidads often run $40+, but these are estimates based on my personal experience.

Those prices are not too bad. Harrod's also tends to slightly over-price most things. I did not think to look there for cigars. I probably should have - since they sell everything. I will the next time I am there.

Re: Cigars

If you go to Harrod's for cigars, you must go to the high end cigar store, they have two, one does some cubans, one does like all cubans.... BTW that price was when the exchange was ~$1,52 to the Pound, so add another third or more for what they will be today...

The Acid Kuba Kuba sounds good. I want to try that one!

Re: Cigars

A guy was smoking one next to me in the best restaurant I could find in Montgomery, AL (La Jolla) and it smelled very interesting, for that and the name, and of course the huge popularity the company has been getting they got included.
