Was The Happening really that bad?
The talk around the office today (besides the new digs for we've moved to the heart of Wilshire) was how horrible The Happening was. I wanted to see it but am now having second thoughts. Is it really that bad?
I skipped Indiana Jones and Hulk but Iron Man was great. The Happening was to be my other summer film but I guess I'll skip it. Care to comment... |
Re: Was The Happening really that bad?
Went and saw Hulk instead of The Happening, and it was really good, better than the first Hulk movie. Speaking of bad, could The Happening be as bad as Cloverfield? Ironman was best this year, so far. Indiana Jones was ok too.

Re: Was The Happening really that bad?
"The Happening" got a Metacritic score of 35 (from 1 to 100), so I would have to say that Shayamalan is continuing to go downhill; though Roger Ebert like it. I am not in any rush to see it.

However, I was told that The Happening was very intense, and definitely not for young people!! |
Re: Was The Happening really that bad?
I read an article about The Happening today and M. Night was talking about how he intended to make a modern day B movie. More like a cereal picture than a serious statement on today's modern culture. Knowing this I may give the film a chance however, it could be a filmmaker trying to explain the dismal failure of a film by trying to pass it off as "the audience didn't get it".
I may break down and see the Hulk too but Ed Norton is far from my favorite person. I don't really like watching him although I think Tim Roth is amazing. |
