Wadia iPod dock with true digital output!

The new 'dock' from famed audiophile digital company Wadia has just shown a small box that allows a true digital output from all current iPods, Nano's and iPod videos as well as some other iPods. This was previously only obtainable from MSB for a prohibitive price.

The new Wadia box is slated to cost $349 and is the product of a joint venture between Wadia and Apple to amend the firmware of iPods to allow the native digital output, totally bypassing all the DAC's in the iPod.

This is the first iPod accessory in the audio industry to allow a digital music server via a true digital output from an iPod allowing anyone to have CD quality audio from their iPod through most music system.

The Wadia iPod dock might just have been the coolest thing to come out of CES. Although, BelCanto is working on something similar but it was a static display. If both companies are able to bring something like this to market with Apple's support I think it will open up a whole new realm of possibilities for downloaded media which is very exciting to say the least.
