Streaming audio. HELP!
 

Don't know if this post is in the right thread but...

I've been looking around the net now for a device to stream audio. Like the Mac Airport, but one that's not connected to a specific software.
What I would want is something that only recives audio wether I play music in iTunes, Winamp, watch videos on Youtube or watch a movies on VLC or mabye Quicktime through WiFi.
Is there such a product on the market?

I bought my wife an AluraTek WiFi internet radio. I got it from amazon.com. It not only will play internet radio stations all over the world, but it will stream audio files from a central media center. It plays files not echo what you are playing on the computer, but is probably close to what you are looking for. You can use the internal speaker or attach the stereo outs to an amplifier.

I checked it out. And though it might work i'd like an optical or HDMI interface, and radio isn't anything I'm looking for, at all.
Do you have to get online to creat a playlist...? Will it play the music I play in iTnues and video sound in media players?

You might try looking at an xbox. Also check out other media servers like the Popcorn Hour.

No, I already have a PS3.. and I just want the audio bit. Not in need of video streaming.

I don't know of any media players that offer a high quality output like optical or HDMI that do not also include video. I guess because without video it would be difficult to provide a user's interface.
