Sure, a sub-woofer is used to output the very low bass sounds. Generally those frequencies below 80hz or so.

A type of speaker that reproduces the low-end of the audio spectrum. If you are a fan of the low frequencies produced by bass notes, consider adding a subwoofer to your home theater system.
