Dynaudio Announces 30th Anniversary Loudspeaker - The Sapphire

As Fall 2007 marks Dynaudioís 30th anniversary, the company is proud to announce its latest loudspeaker offering, the Sapphire. The Dynaudio Sapphire will debut at the Hong Kong Audio Show this weekend. The website update at the online link has a very basic profile picture, but having seen the prototypes in person I can honestly say that the cabinetry and finish is stunning.

As for the information we do know: The US MSRP will be $16,500 per pair. There will be four finish options for the semi-gloss lacquered wood sections of the cabinet: Bordeaux (Rosewood stained Birdís Eye Maple); Amber (Cherry stained Birdís Eye Maple); Mocha (An Espresso stained Bird's Eye Maple); and Ivory (a Natural stained Bird's Eye Maple). The back section of the cabinet will be finished in a semi-gloss black lacquer. Fit and finish is of the highest level.

Production will be limited to 1,000 numbered pair worldwide. The floor standing Sapphire's driver complement will be a conventional TMWW array of 28 mm (1.1") tweeter, a 15 cm (5.75") mid/woofer; and two 20 cm (8") woofers. Expect Dynaudioís highest level of driver technology to be incorporated into this model, though full product details wonít be released until September 1st as mentioned above. The Sapphire will begin shipping this fall.

The Sapphire will make its North American debut at the 2007 CEDIA Expo in Denver, where Dynaudio will be exhibiting in booth # 251 of the Colorado Convention center. If you will be at this yearís show, I look forward to seeing you there. Again. expect to see the official press kit on September 1st.
