Redoing parents 1994 home theater system need speaker advice

The old system consisted of a Onkyo SV515 pro2 and bose acoustimass 7 and scoustimass 3 series 3 rears.
It was nice in its day when they bought it at circut city my dad was looking into klipsch but in the theater room he said the bose sounded better to him. Now 3 tvs later they wana upgrade.
The new reciever is a Denon 3310ci we got for a steal and I would like sugestions for 2 new front channel speakers and a powered sub setup looking at the lower end dft or paradigm or klipsch and any other sugestions that might pop up .
The room is kinda short so I was going to do a front high 7.1 setup with the bose for the surounds till a latter date.

Gees....get ride of the Bose....put them on Craig's List or Ebay.....its the Ford Pinto of the speaker world...I suggest for the front, Onix Rocket L-750 or newer version or Martin Logan...anyone you can afford. The Denon is a good choice...go to AV123 and get their center channel speaker and rears
too....Danish drivers...beautiful cabinets even a housewife would like.
