Though they have grown on me over time, initially I was not a big fan of Planar design speakers. Magnepan, Martin Logan, etc. However, at the Stereo hi-fi show, with a Vpi turntable, my Kevin Eubanks LP (yes I brought some vinyl!!), with Jeff Rowland electronics, I heard the Apogee Duettas.
Crystal clear high freqencies, excellent midrange, with very good bass. It was the balance of the sound that really struck me. I don`t hardly or say these things often, but, it was like Kevin Eubanks was standing in front of me playing his guitar. I will never forget that demo. Has anyone had a similar experience with Apogee speakers? |

Yes! And they are indeed an amazing speaker design - the entire family, for the most part.
It is sad that they are not really being made anymore. I also feel that balance and sound-staging are among the best of any type of speaker ever invented! I would love to get a hold of a set of Apogee Grands. Less than 25 pair were made and sold back in the day.
