Hi - I *only* have $1K to spend on 2 floorstanding speakers and a sub .. recommendations? I'll pick up the center and surround speakers later. I'm about 50/50 between music (loud rock) and 'home theater' usage for this system (I like to play music loud enough to accompany with drums, bass, etc ...), and would rather get a quality 2+1 setup rather then get a full 5.1 that I won't be happy with.
Recommendations? Will "home theater" speakers (such as Infinity Primus 362, PSB 5T, etc.) go loud enough (with an Onyko 605?)? I don't live close enough to a "good" audio store so I can't listen to many choices . Thanks in advance for your input! |

I have bought numerous items from them as well - mostly cables - they are a good company to buy from.

It's pretty tough to find what you are asking for at that price point. One speaker manufacturer that can get you close is DCM, they make some very good and inexpensive loudspeakers and subwoofers, but even they might be a little more than the $1K you have. Check them out, they are well know for their original Time Window speakers, and are really cutting price point with their new lines, but even they might not get you both towers and a sub for $1K.
www.dcmspeakers.com If you can't find both, might I suggest JUST fronts and add the sub later as well? Good luck and let us know what you finally decide!

Well, if prevailing opinion is that it would be *strategically* better to get to mains for around a grand (w/o sub) ... any recommendations? I'd like to narrow down to 2 or 3 choices to audition. thanks!!

I agree with Ken - if you can hold off on a sub I would get the best speakers you can find for $1k then add it later.
You should also check out http://www.svsound.com/products-spks.cfm as they make some really nice products. |
