I have looked at the Paradigm 11's V.5 and many other Speaker manufacturers in the $1000-$1500 price range. I recently bought a Yamaha RX-V1800 but I'm in need of a speaker system for mainly 2 channel listening, however I do watch movies sometimes and hopefully more in the future with my new sound system. I do not have any fancy televison to date.
I was thinking of buying the Klipsch RF-82's, RC-62 centre and either the RS-52 or RS-42's. The subwoofer is unknown/undicided at this time...maybe the Paradigm DSP 3200 may be a good choice? Room size is roughly 13' W x 20' long...but we are going to move one day. QUESTION is, does anyone have this configuration and setup and are you happy with it? Would it be worth my money [$350.00 more] for the RS-52's rather then the RS-42's? |

Personally, I would have gone with the Paradigm system.
Klipsch makes a WELL MADE speaker but they aren't as smooth or liquid to my ears as Paradigm. I am been to the factory in Toronto to see how Paradigms are made and it is impressive. Much like the JBL factory here in Northridge... They make EVERYTHING there. Not a lot of from-China parts etc...

Do you find the Paradigm a fairly directional speaker? If you are not situated in the right spot in the room the sound drops off, that's what I noticed. That may not be a good thing for a Home Theatre type use would it be?

I don't find them directional at all if setup properly.
If you toe them in hard you can make them try to do that audiophile imaging thing but there is NO need to do that. I have done private listening sessions at Paradigm's labs and they image as well as other top speakers in their price range and above. I am not allowed to say which speakers they had there but if you think hard - you can likely guess....
