How many of you use HDMI to feed audio to your receiver and/or TV? Do you feed HDMI PCM to your receiver or HDMI bitstream?

Both three and five.
I use Digital Coax to my Meridian 861, and when a receiver takes it, MC PCM. Hopefully soon both will take bitstream MC Audio uncompressed and that will be the way I roll.

Wouldn't you rather have PCM multi-channel audio uncompressed being delivered to your receiver? Bitstream is either downmixed or a compression algorithm of Dolby or DTS. Are you referring to having bitstreams of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD being sent to your receiver? Those bitstreams would be uncompressed.

tigeraudio,
I am referring to the fact that my $26K pre/pro doesn't have HDMI audio ins yet so when in my bedroom, receiver based system, I use HDMI. When in my reference rig, I still am stuck with Coaxial Digital for now. KT

So then you are looking to update your reference rig with a processor with HDMI 1.3 inputs so you can use bitstream Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD, doign away with the Digital Coaxial connection?
Out of curiosity, why do you have an HDMI processor in your bedroom system and not in your reference system? |

OK,
Let me clarify again.... My reference rig uses a Meridian 861v4, the best (hands down) sounding pre/pro I have found. For now, it doesn't have an HDMI MCA input. Hopefully all that will change in the next few months.... My bedroom system uses a receiver, and as you might be aware, receivers seem to be the forefront of the tech battle, so I can run uncompressed 5.1 PCM to my receiver and do so in that system. Hopefully soon I will have an HDMI in card for my Meridian, and a receiver that does all the new formats in my bedroom and I will then be running MCA via HDMI in both systems. Make sense?? KT
