HDMI to receiver, component to 720P HDTV
I have an Onkyo TX-DS989 audio/video receiver (no HDMI connections) & am considering purchasing an Onkyo audio/video receiver TX-SR806 (with HDMI connections) so I can use the PS3 & DishNet HDMI connectors to connect to the SR806. But my plasma 720P TV just has component connections. So my question is: Will the video & audio be any better with the SR806 than it already is with my TX-DS989? Or said another way: When a receiver has to convert an HDMI signal to a component signal before inputting to the video monitor, is the HDMI signal downgraded in any way?

Re: HDMI to receiver, component to 720P HDTV
the audio may be a little better, but you're best off with the analog rca cables for each input (the 6 or 8 of them). that's why the higher end bluray players offer that as an audio out, but the cheap one's don't.
i wouldn't expect the video to be any better (and possibly not supported). |
