Its not nesesarily a waste of money but from what I have read(A couple of reviews) the 1080P is not as great as you may expect. One comment I read is its not worth the extra money for the A30. Check the Home Theater web page and read their review. Personally after many years of 480P 1080I will suite me just fine. By the way I got an A3 yesterday (BB $199.00)and could not be happier. I also love the 9 movies I got. |

Jaws17,
Welcome to the forum! How did you find us? I must chime in here, for your sized set (42" per your profile) the difference between 1080i and 1080p might not be easily appreciated. 1080p really shines the larger the display. I run a 70" Sony SXRD RPTV and can tell you the difference isn't small by any means, even when compared to 1080i. 1080p really outdoes 1080i, even on upscaled SD DVD's, forget about with a native 1080p source (Blu-ray or HD DVD)! Hope you are happy with the A3, I haven't had that one yet, and the deal with nine free movies is well, a no brainer! If I hadn't already bought five Blu-ray and two HD DVD players, I might have bought another one just for that deal!

You guys are killing me. I won't get my A3 until I come home for Christmas (at least all my movies should be there by then). The joys of living on an island!!
I guess I will have to be forced to be happy watching sd dvd until then. ![]() |

O.K. I'm hearing two opinions, for and against the value of 1080p. I have a 50" Sony LCD (KDF-E50A10). We've only had it <2 years and I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon. It has HDMI in but only does 1080i. Will I really see any benefit from 1080p? If not, I'll just try to find the $ 100 Tosh at Wal-Mart, if it's still available. All the Atlanta Best Buys are out of the $ 200 A3 deal but Costco has the HD-A2C for $ 170 with 5 DVD's. FWIW, I have a Denon DVD-2200 for SACD and DVD-Audio and will just rent HD-DVD's from Blockbuster online. Thanks. Jim
