Some people are buying the $80-$90 players and cheap HD DVD movies and figuring that it's a good deal even just for upconverting standard DVD's. They will just have to deal with slow load times, but at least no more updates!

If you are looking to up convert DVD buy yourself an Oppo player it will run circles around the Toshiba HD-DVD player!

Yes, that XA2 is a serious machine. Too bad that its over and done with for HD DVD. It would be interesting to see how low Toshiba will drop in price their remaining inventory of XA2 players.

I don't recall whatr chipset is in the XA2, but the scaling of this on SD DVD is the best I've seen. I will keep this player until it dies.
