$10 HD-DVD's at Best Buy!!
from Gizmodo, TGDaily is reporting that selected Best Buys—like one in Dublin, Calfornia—are so eager to clear out their HD DVD stock they're a step away from building a huge bonfire: All HD DVDs are just $9.99, with TV series on HD DVD walking away at a steep 70 percent discount. But your YMMV. Some stores have apparently pulled HD DVDs entirely to make room for Blu-ray, not even bothering to hawk the scraps. TGDaily's sources tell 'em that whatever's not sold by the end of this month will be sent back to publishers, though some stores have already started tossing them back. Still, if you haven't trashed your player already, might as well stop by your local store and to see if you can't scrounge up some cheap HD goods. If you still want hd-dvd's this looks like the time to stock up! |

I hate when writers say stupid stuff like this.
As if everyone just walked over to their system and yanked out their HD DVD player, like a bad weed, and chunked it in the trash. All the the HD DVD players can still play HDM, and play SD DVD better than most SD DVD players. Everyone out here has bought them all up. It's almost impossible to find them in stores now - dual format players excluded. |

1/2 price hd-dvd's at Circuit City
From TGdaily Circuit City has also begun clearing out its HD DVD inventory, cutting the prices of HD DVD movies by 50% in most of its stores, TG Daily was told. The move follows other chains, such as Best Buy: Last week we reported that some Best Buy stores have already removed all HD DVDs from its store shelves and others are trying to get rid of their inventory with price reductions of up to 70%. As of this morning, there appear to be plenty of HD DVD inventory left in U.S. retail. According to Pricegrabber.com, more than 100 stores offered HD DVD players, with prices ranging from $60 for the HD-A3 model to $240 for the HD-A35. There is no current data on HD DVD sales and no indication if consumers are actually buying those reduced price HD DVDs. Amazon’s Bestseller list currently lists “I am Legend” as the most popular HD DVD ($18.99) at position 37 in its DVD/Blu-ray/HD DVD ranking. The DVD versions are listed at #25 ($15.99) and #19 (special edition, $22.99), while the Blu-ray movie is listed at #3 ($18.95). |
