No way. It's just not possible for it to happen.

There will be room for optical media for at least 10 or 15 years. Will HDM be behind DLC in 5 years? Quite possibly, but it will remain a market for a long time.

There are just some people who don't do the internet thing let alone high speed internet.

I suspect these are also people who don't have/want HD DVD or Blu-ray players...

Early adopters like us would also jump on the download thing ASAP.

Right but in 5 years they likely will have a HDTV and thus be more interested in HDM than you're thinking. Right now they're priced at some places for the price they'd be willing to pay $100.

HD DVD is starting a massive advertising campaign that kicks off with a Super Bowl advert that will basically tell everyone that BD players aren't 2.0 compatible and that all BD players being sold today are obsolete.
