2.7 update for XA2

I just read on the Highdefdigest web site forum than the recently released 2.7 update allows the player to pass bitstream TrueHD and DTS HD MA to an appropriately equipped receiver to be decoded there? Has anyone found this to be correct?

I suspect few if any of us yet have pre/pro's or receivers capable of these formats.... I'm looking to get one ASAP though, and will put the new firmware in today so I am ready!

I have the Onkyo 805 with these capabilities. My Blu-ray player is capable of passing both TrueHD and DTS Master via bitstream. It sounds really awesome. But the difference between the player decoding it and the receiver decoding it is slight. But I do think the receiver's decoding is slightly better.

It has been suggested to me that having the player do the processing is better than having a receiver do it.

Well I found that the receiver's decoding provided for more dynamics and air surrounding the soundtrack. But it is so close that I really can't imagine anyone rejecting one over the other. They both blow Dolby Digital and DTS out of the water.

I can't confirm for the XA2, but the latest update for my 1st Generation RCA HDv5000 alows me to play movies encoded with DTS-ES 6.1, which it didn't do before. So I would hope the 2nd generation got a similar upgrade.
