Hello all. Forum newbie (please go easy on me).

I have a Bose Series 1 Lifestyle 28 home theater system. Ugh, I know. Why? Guess I watch the stupid demo and actually liked being tricked. Anyway, I've always liked the sound of them and the fact that they take up hardly any space at all. So I was recently given a Sony Blue-Ray player and an Denon AVR-1609 Receiver. I would like to use this new Receiver/Player with my current Bose speaker system because I do not have the money to spend on another set of speakers.

Is it possible to use this speaker setup with another receiver? Unfortunately, the connector that goes from the Lifestyle system has a small, round 9-pin (I think) connector on the receiver end, and an Ethernet Cat-5 type of connector goes into the Acoustimass module. Does anyone know of another connector that I could plug into the Bose module that I could connect to the receiver, or am I able to clip the receiver end off and feed the wires into the receiver? The whole wire itself isn't very thick, so I'm thinking that might not be a good idea.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a camera system on my boat that is primarily used to view video but not record. It has a component video out plug on the back that you can record video out from. What is probably my best bet for capturing the video. I know I could get a usb recorder and record to my laptop but I would like to avoid that if possible. Is there any device, like an ipod or similar that would record from a video out plug?

Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a new sound system, and we're talking something separate from the tv and video components, that will simply be used for music on a different floor. We need to be able to play CDs and connect the ipod in a user friendly fashion.
I've looked at mini-shelf systems but have no been able to find one I can feel confident about in terms of sound and built quality.

Originally we wanted to go wireless to avoid the hassle of wires and have the freedom to place the speakers whereever we wanted, but we ran into several problems.

#1 we have not been able to find a wireless mini portable system with seperate speakers such as the http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665518556 that has a cd player

#2 the griffin evolve http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/evolve looks great but the batteries in the speakers are not replaceable and like all batteries must die after some time and it also doesn't have a cd player

it seems then that we need to go full system with a receiver, a cd player, and an ipod dock, and get some good speakers. So i need some advice for those components

#1 can you recommend a good stereo receiver
#2 a good cd or dvd player (we wouldn't be using it for dvds but it seems that cd players are being phased out since dvd players play cds)
#3 a good set of speakers for 2.0 system that are not large and don't take up much space, wireless would be great but we kind of dropped that option now because we didn't anything worth that's wireless

All advice from the audio brains out there is greatly appreciated.

I have just bought a NAD C54BEE CD player. I had listened, during these days, to many CD's from my collection, as test, succesfully. Today I started with the complete Die Walküre (Golden Melodram), that I know absolutely well and that is reproduced perfectly even by ITunes and WMP (and was reproduced perfectly with my previous old system). Well I have gotten already two very short stops at two tracks in the middle of what should be continuous sound (Ihave just listened two acts), severly spoiling the listening as it's clear. I have already repported the failure to current dealers who are very kind indeed and will take measures (tha I still do not know). Also, I played the "problematic" CD thorugh a very common DVD player/recorder with absolute success. My question is: Do I have to expect that this is a particular failure of my unit or somebody has listened that this type of issues are NAD bugs? I was observing, before, that tracks luminous numbers appearence and changing in the CD player, blinked sometimes, at moving from one to the next, if with no stops at all. It impressed me as, at least, ugly. I appreciate your opinion and thank very much with friendly regards.
