Hey guys.

I just built a shuttle computer to set next to my Tv gear and have a little trouble getting everything to work..

I have the computer going HDMI to my Denon....and the Denon is going HDMI to the TV that now only acts like a monitor for everything.. (Tv, DVD, etc etc)

The shuttle was a blank machine and have installed XP on it..and believe all the driver are installed correctly. As I type this now I have the computer showing up on the TV, going through my Denon, but a couple things.....

1. I'm not getting any sound and believe I have set the Denon up correctly.. (as I'm seeing things opn the TV via HDMI)

2.The resolution is horrible and when I use the roller in the mouse its spotty and slow...

I'm terrible at all of this and could use some help..

Thank you..

I have a Sony STR-DH800 on the way and I was wondering if I would be able to get HD audio with this setup:

I have a PS3 slim that I use for Blu Ray, but my problem is that my HDTV is pretty old and doesn't have an HDMI port. Would it be possible to run the audio from the PS3 to the receiver with HDMI, have the receiver decode the TrueHD/DTS-HD audio, and then somehow run the video through component to my TV since there is no HDMI? I know the receiver has a component output but I didn't know if playing HD audio from HDMI and switching the video to the component output was possible.

Thanks in advance.

I have a yamaha htr-5760. I have hooked a pair of outdoor speakers to the B speaker setting. The problem I am facing is that when I turn off the A setting the center and the surround still give off sound. How do I listen to the speakers outside without the sound being on inside?

On a side note, I don't have the remote for this unit anymore. Reading the manual it seems as though there are alot of functions that can not be done from the unit alone. Is this assesment correct? Is there a good place to get a replacement?

I am interested in hearing from someone who may have insight as to whether a wireless internet capable receiver will soon become available. I won't buy another a/v receiver until then. I think it's about time a top line receiver becomes available that will wirelessly connect to your home network!

NAD-C715 vs YAMAHA DRX-730BL

I need inputs on which of these receiver/cd players you prefer. I haven't been able to find any posts/articles which compare both. Which would you say is better quality? I was recommended NAD for its quality, but am not sure about Yamaha.

Main differences

1. video - Yamaha has a dvd player and an HDMI output for video at 1080p while the NAD just has a cd player
2. The Yamaha is 30W/channel, the NAD is 25W/channel.
3. FR (Frequency response) - goes down to 10 Hz for the Yamaha, but 20Hz for the NAD
4. The NAD is about 2 inches deeper

Yamaha - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...specifications
NAD - http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NAC715

Here are two more from TEAC that seem similar but haven't checked them out yet.

How Can I Connect Two Receivers?

When surround sound first came out I bought a Yamaha HTR-5540 5.1 receiver after being promised by the salesperson that I could use a pre-amp and Aux Input for my turntable. I had put off buying into the surround sound concept due to the lack of a phono inputs on the systems at that time. My vinyl isn't going anywhere and I have no desire to transfer my albums and 12" club mixes to CD. Long story short, the pre-amp did not work no matter what I didn't to ground it....that annoying buzz/hum was there to stay and I wasn't going to pay upward of $100 plus to find one that would work. Later I decided I would build a modest but acceptable system strictly for the purpose of enjoying my vinyl and bought an Onkyo TX-8511 stereo receiver with a phono input and a pair of Advent Heritage tower Loudspeakers.

My situation has changed now a few years down the road and I have recently bought a Samsung 32" flat panel but in order to take full advantage of the best possible audio and video quality I need to upgrade my receiver and have decided on the new Onkyo NR-807 so I will have all the possible inputs/outputs I might need including networking. It is going to be a couple of months before I can afford the new NR-807 so with that said here is my question. Can I connect the Onkyo TX-8511 stereo receiver with phono input and ground wire together with my Yamaha HTR-5540 and use my Advent Loudspeaker as the front left and right for the 5.1 and share them with the Onkyo TX-8511 on the “A” channel? Is this even a possibility to connect the two receivers and what am I getting myself into in doing so? I have no clue which inputs/outputs I would use for this type of connection even if it is possible! This would be a temporary situation until I buy the new Onkyo NR-807. Hopefully I have given you all the specifics you need and given you a clear picture of my situation, if not let me know.

I would really appreciate any input and guidance anyone might be able to provide on this subject!

Cheers!
