If you could pick 3 albums that you would definitely purchase as new DVD-Audio releases, if they were re-mixed into 5.1 surround... what would they be?
In other words, all-time favorite albums that you feel would sound GREAT in 5.1 surround. (NOTE: Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour are NOT eligible, because the individual tracks were never archived separately, so they cannot be re-mixed.) Here are my 3 Most Wanted: 1) Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix 2) In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson 3) 1 Giant Leap (Various Artists, inc. Michael Stipe) What are your 3 Most Wanted surround re-mixes? DD |

David,
Electric Ladyland.... by a mile! Rainy Day, Dream Away and ...And the Gods Made Love alone would be worth the price!!! This album is amazing in stereo, I can't imagine how good it could be in surround! I would love to have Led Zepelin Presence as well (my favorite LZ album) and some others I'd like are Dead Kennedy's Fresh Fruit for rotting Vegetables, Crystal Method, Vegas (their best in my mind). I would buy these and countless others if they ever DID come out in MC!

Seems the King Crimson catalog may indeed be on it's way in surround, courtesy of Steven (Porcupine Tree) Wilson.
Picking just three is hard, and I'd probably answer differently any given day. Though I really like some of the others already listed, Electric Ladyland, Moving Pictures, etc., here are 3 others that pop into mind: - Mike Oldifleld, Five Miles Out - Kate Bush, The Hounds of Love - Yes, Close to the Edge David, if you pick up the 1GiantLeap DVD, a lot of the tracks are in 5.1. The DVD is every bit as fantastic as the album and really stands on it's on. |

Couldn't limit it to just 3 - sorry!
1.) Forever Changes - Love 2.) Stand - Sly & The Family Stone 3.) With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker 4.) Sticky Fingers - The Rolling Stones 5.) Surf's Up - The Beach Boys 6.) Odessa - The Bee Gees There's a bunch more, but these are just the first that jumped to mind. |

Wow David, that is a tall order!! And how are you?
Well, for starters, I would say "Headhunters" by Herbie Hancock. Chameleon would sound great in 5.1. 2. Would be SoulBox by Grover Washington Jr. The orchestra with strings, this would be awesome. 3. Apolcalpse by the Mahavishnu Orchestra featuring John Mclaughlin. Of course, I could give you another 10 David! |
