Which Isaac Hayes SACD is better?

This is a tough call. The SACDs are better sounding than the CDs. BUMMER these aren't remastered into surround but glad to have them on SACD for stereo.

Another musician that irked me when he left Southpark for 'scientological reasons'. Trust me, living near their headquarters (Clearwater, FL ask Southard!) they creep me out..... I don't recall theaton as a detectible compound, but I did train in medicine away from Clearwater....

I have to pick Shaft, probably his best known work, and one of the classics of all time!

Wow, that is some review on both albums Jerry. I don`t know how I originally missed them. But, I was just looking at them on musicdirect, about two weeks ago. This is a hard one to figure. To me, Hot Buttered is an all time classic. The first record of its type really. With the long minute songs (a la the disco era) and of course Ike`s rap, arrangements, and balladier singing. Shaft, I mean, what can you say about that. My parents took myself and my younger sister to Harlem, then out to dinner to see it. I`ll always remember that experience. The music, once again is stellar. My favorite, the beautiful Cafe Regio. They are both winners, with Shaft of course being originally a 2 record lp, has more music, but to choose a winner...........

I`ll get back to you after I purchase them.

Hey kennyt, there is another one that did not do as well, but I`ve always felt it was a great 2 - record lp. "Black Moses." This gem had remakes of prior hits, arranged with strings an orchestra in Ike`s style. Though no one in my opinion, can touch the "Friends of Distinctions" ballad - "Going in Circles" Ike`s version is slick and mellow. Then of course, there is the Jackson Five`s - "Never Can Say Goodbye." Very well done with his background singers adding an extra touch to this tune.
Hopefully this will be released in SACD as well.

I have seen Ike in concert and think he is REALLY great.

The Scientology thing is really crazy. How is it OK to make fun of EVERY OTHER "religion" but then when his (created by a sci-fi writer and based around STEEP fees to elevate to higher levels) he gets touchy. Southpark is a COMEDY and SATIRE show. He knows this.

I did not know that about Ike Hayes. tha is very interesting. And you are so right. I got to see Isaac Hayes at Madison Square. A great show, lots of screaming ladies, excellent orchestra.
