Why would you think that a HD-DVD drive in the 360 would make any difference?
You obviously don't think a Blu-Ray drive in the PS3 does much for Blu-Ray.

Where do you get such a stupid idea?

I've long said the only reason BD is in this at all is the PS3. If they had to rely on Stand Alone players sales this war would be over right now.

I was being serious!

I've never stated that the PS3 was unimportant. Without the PS3 BD would have died as fast as DIVX did.

I just think the increased PS3 sales have to match the increased HD DVD player sales. Since HD DVD player sales have increased by a multiple of 6 then so must PS3 sales to cancel out the gain of HD DVD standalones. Otherwise the software edge will start to drop.

Like it appears to have already done.

A $349 360 w/HD DVD would mean the end entirely to the PS3 edge. Which would make stand alone player sales even more important.

It's definately something the BD side doesn't want to see.

Bandwidth is what would allow for more lossless audio. Because Transformers used a boisterous AVC encode, there was not enough room left in the bandwidth for lossless audio, which is what Paramount meant when they said "not enough room" to the question "why no lossless audio"

As for doing A/B tests, the reviews for Blu-ray are much more consistently higher in the audio department than they are for HD DVD regardless of whether or not you separate it out by decade, which must mean something. I can only believe it's that there are three times as many Blu-ray discs released with lossless audio as there are HD DVD's.

PS - looks like all those "records" for HD DVD in terms of titles in the top 10, top 25, etc., just got smashed. Blu-ray has 1-6 in the Top 10 and 8 of the Top 10 altogether, something HD DVD has NEVER been able to do.

Oh yes, the momentum is totally in the Blu corner going into CES.

As of today there is no way 300 on bluray has sold more copies than Transformers on HDDVD!!! For you to use 11 week old data as current is ridiculous.
According to Nielsen data, "300" on Blu-ray sold more in its first week than Transformers did on HD DVD.

So unless you have some data which shows otherwise that's not from a studio, how about you give us a break? No data out there supports what you're saying.

In terms of sales by week, TF vs. BD300

Week 3 4.79:1
Week 4 3.38:1
Week 5 No Data
Week 6 1.51:1
Week 7 1.34:1

Sorry, but all data points to "300" still being the #1 HDM title and it's on Blu-ray.
Do you have any data that suggest otherwise?
