The BOGO the BDA put on during Transformers week moved many catalog titles into Neilsen / VideoScan’s top 10 for that week. If you’re going to belittle HD DVD sales because of the BOGO, then perhaps you should also admit that HD DVD only lost Transformers week because of the BDA BOGO.

Anyway, like Lotus has been saying for over a month, like the BD insiders are saying now, the sales are close enough that it doesn’t matter. The highest bidder is getting Warner, plain and simple.

So no evidence....I thought as much.

Funny how no other member of the 50 guests from the media that attended the BD Event 2007 were told this.

The evidence is in their PRs. Read between the lines.

As for your last sentence don't make things up. Obviously others heard it.

Is it news worthy?

No. Why on earth would anyone report on something old that didn't matter?

I suppose if they had an agenda to bash BD they might. Again it would be pointless.

Kind of just like it's pointless now, but you still want to talk about it because perhaps it steers the conversation clear of the fact that Warners has yet to make a decision and software sales are catching up?

This is regardless of which-format the sale would favor.
Ok so we're clear on this, you're stating the 1.2:1 lead that Nielsen reported HP having should not be considered for that week because the BD was part of a BOGO at Best Buy but the HD DVD was not?

So for two weeks Best Buy did that. Then this past week they did the BTGO that included the HP films (while Amazon had their BOGO).

Actually I'm not making anything up, I've chatted with numerous people that were at the event and no-one heard anything about disc replication.

Are you now saying that you need to "read between the lines" to hear about how it was 30-40% on BD50's recently? Which lines are you reading between? I don't see it.

I want to talk about it because I don't see anything that backs up your opinion and I do see lots of evidence that backs up my opinion, which is why I have that opinion.

You say you're aware of what the BD50 ratios were at the start of summer (even though Vaughn agrees they were higher than what he initially claimed which was around 50%) yet my first post here was to rebut the fact that you said only three factories replicating BD50 and they are all Sony's, which is incorrect as there were 7 factories capable of BD50 replication at the time, so you'll have to excuse me if I find you to be ill-informed on BD replication statistics.

As for software sales, can you explain how they are catching up?

Start of 2007
45:55

End of 1st Quarter
56:44

End of 2nd Quarter
59:41

End of 3rd Quarter
61:39

As of December 16th, 2007
62:38

How is that catching up? Blu-ray started the year with 45% of the market and now has 62%?? That's a 17% increase in market share for software since January 1st, 2007.

Sorry but are you saying that Best Buy did a Blu-ray only BOGO for two weeks straight that included Harry Potter and didn't do anything on HD DVD?

I wonder why no-one reported this! I keep my eye open for all the deals and I don't see anything online about the sale you're reporting.

The only one I see is the BOGO for both formats that started on December 16th which had HP on both formats - http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...,_Blu-ray/1270
