Hmm, I'm starting to worry about my format's chances of surviving. It looks like HD DVD is gaining ground.

The thing is it isn't new. It is the first time this year that HD DVD has won in the top 10, top 25, number in the top 100 (and currently holding the record for most ever), and top 1000. It has done this since Wednesday.

BD has been fairly "healthy," for about 8 months and it's due entirely to the PS3. Finally HD DVD is showing signs of "health."

Warners does care.

Hopefully it's a sign that soon in 2008 we will see more unilateral studio support for both formats. I think that is what we really all want.

War is good for nothing. It's not good for us consumers. It's not good for Studios either. Some are just now starting to realize that.
Hi to everyone although I am reading the forum for a while I decided to write a little
especially regards HD-DVD Sales......

First I wanna introduce my self
I live currently in Athens Greece, and have both formats in my home cinema.

But as the prices are high here in Europe in general for both formats alot of people
buy their HD-DVD discs from Amazon US......but not the Blu rays.....
why ? simple HDDVD is region free and so no problem to play the discs
but as Blu ray is non region free and if in the disc is not stated ABC...... I can not order the disc as it will be not playable with my Pioneer Player bought in Europe..........
this is not the case with HD DVD
and I am not alone with this I know also from German forums people doing the same
ordering their HD-DVDs from Amazon cause it is cheaper.... and they are compatible with their players

So to make it right
if you really wanna know the sales for the US MARKET Amazon is not where you should look at or they could split the data and put in the comparison
HD DVDs Shipped in the US only......but I am sure its not in their interest.
Anyways as for me I enjoy both formats in my Sony VPL-VW60 and every time I watch a hd doesn't matter which format I come to the same conclusion..... did the right thing....

I don't know anything about foreign studio's plans, I live in North America.
I did contact Warner to ask about Lotus' claims of exclusive titles to HD DVD in 2008 and received this response quite quickly.

And most importantly don’t believe everything you read… especially unsubstantiated claims on websites…
Happy New Year!
The rest of the e-mail has been removed for privacy reasons of course, but Andrew and the admin team have verified who my sources are at Warner.

What did the rest of his email say? “Please stop bothering me about this, I don’t have time to respond to every rumor you send me?”

Ahh, I'm sure they did. I keep forgetting how studios want to get all there secret stuff out days before a big conference. Who wants any big announcements with the press there?
