HD DVD needs BOGO's on top titles like HP (which you conveniently forgot to mention) to get those titles up there, Blu-ray wins weeks with or without BOGO's.

Barring some massive payoff from the HD DVD Propaganda Group (read: Microshiba) Warner will be dropping HD DVD support by Summer 2008.

With Jeff taking over the helm on January 1st, 2008, it could happen a lot sooner.
Say what you want, but HP is selling according to Nielsen and it's on HD DVD.

The whole Warner to BD at CES thing is toast.

So now it's Summer 2008?

What a riot you are. By Summer 2008 this war will be over. If the Nielsen numbers continue through the week (no reason they shouldn't) the writing is on the wall. Standalone players beat PS3s. Even if they don't win the week, it won't be near 2:1 like before. It will show what everyone else has known since the $98 sale: HD DVD is the only format gaining momentum.

Wal-Mart and Best Buy are preparing another $98 blowout for the A3.

What do you think another 100,000+ HD DVD players would do?

Then again the HD DVD PRG may stop the blowout because they look to have caught up without it.

If MS really does put HD DVD drives in the 360 this war is really over. Since the 360 outsells the PS3 it would totally cancel the PS3 edge for all future purchases.

Nice try.

Besides DSotM what title even sold on SACD to warrant anyone to release to it?

For BD & HD DVD you can point to overall sales and attachment rates that are extremely healthy for a niche market.

Also Shareholders got so upset about Warners music doing poorly and not reacting to the death of CD that TW sold it.

Thanks for helping make my point.

Sure, that's why there are almost 5,000 SACD titles to choose from and 300-something HD DVD titles.

Have you looked up the word "niche" before, because it seems you think it's something else.

Regarding WMG, 13,000,000 vs. 1,000,000 does not help you make your point at all, but rather seems to contradict your opening statement.

The majority of HD DVD titles have not moved 20,000 units. So I'm not sure what your point is to be honest. You seem to have become discombobulated.

If you want it go pay for it.

I'm not going to post a link to paid for information. Maybe you would do something so absurdly unethical but I will not.

Little man, you have no idea what the Nielsen numbers currently are for HP.
Another 100,000 HD DVD players will do about as much as the 90,000 on BF did - sweet bugger all!

If HD DVD is the only format gaining momentum, how come they haven't won a week's sales yet? If you think Wal*MaArt makes up 40% of the market, you haven't been into one.

Have you seen the sections of HDM at Wal*Mart vs. Best Buy? Would you like to show us some pictorial evidence of ANY Wal*Mart with an HDM section that could remotely be considered even half the size of the typical Best Buy section.

This whole "yeah but the places NOT counted in Nielsen sell WAYYYY more HD DVD than Blu-ray" is a complete joke that only people in the HD DVD Propaganda Group mention. Odd how everywhere counted by Nielsen is so magically different than the places that aren't.

Oh and by the way, when you pay for Nielsen's data, you can print it. You don't, you're just making stuff up, all part of your FUD campaign here.

Sure, just like those awful unethical people at Home Media Magazine.

What a FUD-ster you are. You can't even keep track of who's counted in the Nielsen numbers, then you claim that you either pay for them or have access to someone else's paid for data.

Pull the other one.

5,000 SACD titles and you can't buy the majority of the top selling albums of all time?

WOW!

I don't know what you do for a living, but your understanding of markets and market growth is not very good.

SACD has been around what 9 years? It has less than 1% of the market. That is a NICHE.

I don't believe that either next gen format is going to be a Niche market. Current Market Growth trends show that within 3 years both should have around 10% of the market. That is far beyond SACD.

WMG was sold because it was losing money and couldn't find a solution to lost CD revenue.

Stockholders are EXTREMELY interested in how Disney plans on countering the lost DVD revenue. If there is a next gen format with 1M standalone players vs <500K on the side they're currently backing you are going to get upset stockholders. I've been at these meetings and you have obviously not been. It is brought up every year.

We all underestimated HD DVD. I was convinced BD would win in a landslide.

Then they came out. We all know the horrible content stories. That allowed HD DVD to hang in and then they got Paramount and Dreamworks. Then they got players to finally sell unlike BD.

HD DVD is gaining momentum and they are about to release discs that eliminate the needed space advantage.

It doesn't look good for BD.

Warners has invested interest in HD DVD. Now HD DVD is selling well for them. Why on earth would they abandon it when they make more money from it?
