Funny how there is no mention of what Warner has to say about the matter isn't it.
This is typical of Susanne Ault's reporting. She rarely looks into any piece of information.
Universal's research also shows that gamers don't buy movies. I guess the attach rate of Blu-ray standalone players is freakin' huge then.

Also, if Harry Potter HD outsold BD and Bourne was the #1 title, how did BD not finally lose a week with all those BOGO's as well?

Something doesn't add up. I think you'll find the HP numbers were in favour of Blu-ray by somewhere around the 1.4:1 to 1.5:1 region.
Blu-ray can never lose to HD-DVD in total disc sold because Blu-ray has more titles. I currently own both formats. I'm not an insider, I'm just an average consumer. I own more HD-DVD's because I got into that format first. Blu-ray (in my home) is quickly catching up only for one reason...Disney, but when a title is put out in both formats - I always gravitate to the HD-DVD version. Blu-ray shouldn't lose a single week due to the amount of exclusives that it has (when you get Disney - you get the family).

P.S. When I said "when you get Disney - you get the Family" that's true - unless the family buys the DVD version first. Many "normal" consumers can't justify BR just yet.

I've also found that many people don't care if their kids have their movies in HD. They do care about PotC and National Treasure type of films though.

Disney is a force in the media market most certainly. I personally think in the last decade Paramount, Dreamworks, FOX, and Columbia have controlled the "coolest," titles for adults.

So right now for my catalog desires the whole thing is split rather evenly.

Nice try.
**** Poor argument. HDDVD and Bluray are easily more successful than either of these 2 formats. Interesting note SACD was initially a 2 channel format then much like today midstroke they changed the format specs to 5.1 to include the players.

How tragic.
Well that will be the 1st thing that doesn't work on 1st gen machines and is not fully backward compatible. From everything I know EXPECT to have TL-51's playing on 1st gen machines at CES. If the discs are not backward compatible there is little point to them.

I heard the same thing. They will be displayed on a 3rd gen player. This however doesn't mean it won't work on a 1st gen. They just aren't bringing out an A1 to display it on.

Big Deal.

It would be a huge disaster if they were displaying it on some new yet to be released technology.
