Warner has a recent deal with Cinram which was one of the first and largest warehouse/manufacturer/distributor of blu-ray. Might just be a coincidence.

And I even attended the stereophile convention in '96 in NYC where the new "unified" DVD format had just been triumphed and somehow something must have been said there (erroneously) about the single-layer SD thing that stuck in my brain ever since.

I stand corrected, and appreciate the chance to be educated.

Wanted to make sure and share this to clarify that my earlier debate over the "FUD" related to the SD/MMCD thing was based on an error on my part, and not a desire to spread more FUD!

I got some of it wrong and I was there when IBM saved the day...

So no worries.

This might mean something if they weren't releasing on BD but they have been neutral the entire time. So this really means nothing at all. It's a sign of Cinram's ability to do well in BD and that is it.

If it was Universal who made the deal then you'd have something that could mean something. However pointing out that a Studio that releases BD titles has a deal with a BD manufacturer means pretty much nothing.

I was one of those that thought I would wait it out and see which one would win. Well, I jumped the gun and bought a PS3 last week just for the Blu Ray playback. Connected to my Sony Pearl, I was glad I made a choice. The picture over regular DVD is fantastic. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I have a feeling that BR will win but that's not why I did it. I wanted to enjoy the best video my system could handle. I have no regrets even if HD wins.

Well at least you'll have a PS3 game system no matter what happens. Which means it will stay connected to the system and nothing will make the titles you buy go bad.
