David 1/3 of the population has hdtv's to take advantage of the visual benefits from blurays and hddvd's.

How many people have a receiver that decodes DTS-HD MA. How many bluray players decode DTS-HD MA from Fox, MGM and Lionsgate titles or have the ability to send it bitstream? See my point.

Since very few hddvd's use these codecs you can make the argument for DD+ and Dolby True HD. How many hddvd players decode DD+ or Dolby True HD? Every one! 4 players can even bitstream DTS-HD HRA or MA to the very few people with a HDMI 1.3a receiver.
I said "lossless" audio. That includes PCM, which is fully compatible with every BD player sold.

And the fact that every HD DVD player can decode Dolby TrueHD internally, yet such a small percentage of HD DVD discs even bother to provide lossless sound, just amplifies the problem that HD DVD either has disc-space limitations that are preventing lossless from being provided, or it's being supported by studios who (ironic I know) don't place the highest priority on transparent audio/video encoding.

As long as the software isn't compromised, the hardware can catch up. We did that with anamorphic DVD long before we had 16x9 TVs in most homes. It doesn't bother me one bit that my PS3 will have to wait until early 2008 to get upgraded to full DTS-HD MA decoding given that I'm able to build a library of software with lossless audio in the meantime.

Warner is scheduled to be at the hddvd prg press event. With all the rumours flying I am sure this was a must. I highly doubt they will announce bluray exclusivity here. It is not known yet whether Warner will have a representative at the bluray press event.
No offense but that means very little to me.

They could cancel their appearance between now and then. If they do I doubt the HD DVD PRG are going to release a PR about it either.

True… I guess the question is: When did they commit to attending the HD DVD press event? When did the HD DVD PR Group alert the press about who would be attending? If these events are fairly recent, it could provide clues. Certainly it’s better that they are listed then if they weren’t listed!

True it's either a sign or well not a sign.

I don't really think it changes anything. Has the BDA announced who will be there yet?

My feeling right now is we either see Warner and Universal going Blue...

or Warner, New Line going Red, and Disney going Purple.

Either one means an end to this stupid war so let it happen already.
