Sure they can. Sony can offer more money than Toshiba and MS are willing to spend.

They're for sale. If it had to do with proper market trends they'd just pick HD DVD and be done with it.

Do they have that kind of money to spend? According to your earlier posts you said you knew what MS/Toshiba was willing to offer and that Sony could not come close to matching it.

It's not all about money. If it was Sony might not stand a chance. I found out a lot more about it today.

For one Warners wants to pick the winner. On both sides they have a major studio ready to jump with them. Universal on one side, and well lets just say a really big name on the other.

Who they pick will win. If you're an HD DVD fan the good news is that Burns ****ed them off by talking about it. So the BDA was put in a bad situation.

On AVS, when someone is an "insider" and shared inside information, they disclose who they are so their credibility can be double checked by staff and readers.

Lotus, the way you share these inside tips as though you're stating fact. How in the world are you supposed to be any different than any other anonamous poster on an internet board? Why won't you share who you are and what company you work for?

I'm not discounting the veracity of what you're sharing. I'm questioning your motives for staying anonamous given that *anyone* could say anything they like in the same capacity and say anything they like.

I am assuming that name would be MGM, Disney, or Lionsgate. Due to the fact Disney voted for the approval or TL-51 and Twin Disc this makes the most sense. Sorry I don't see the sole exclusive content provider of hddvd for most of its duration going neutral and leaving Paramount out in the cold. I am sure before Paramount made there decision they considered every possible scenario before committing to hddvd including Warner going blu with Universal following them.

Lionsgate is to small a company to be a big name and either MGM or Disney would be great. I have long said Warner's biggest blunder was letting Sony buy MGM. Due to Paramount, they were neutral by then. Letting MGM go I guess wasn't that big of a concern. If they would have stayed exclusive this never would have happened. I think it is obvious you are not talking about New Line as they go where Warner goes. That is a given to include HBO.

Did Warner ever resign with the BDA? Their contract expired in Oct.

Lionsgate would be possible. But MGM is owned by Sony and Disney is one of the strongest backers of Blu-ray exclusivity there is. They don't just want "a" format to win, they want *blu-ray* to win.
