I agree with kennyt, it is all conjecture. It will play out, and then we will see..... Anyway, like I said from the very beginning, the war was not good, for business, the consumer, and ultimately bringing more people into the high end community to enjoy this lovely hobby like we do.

But, does that really even concern anyone anymore?

An interesting conversation at a party last night threw out some very interesting data to me:

Disney is not the big gun you'd think they would be in the eyes of the people at the party last night. I heard a lot of "my kids have their titles on DVD, and they don't even have an HDTV, if it's for my viewing I'd be more interested in WB titles than Disney." That and the general thought that Disney would have to come around sooner or later if HD DVD was selling well.
Lotus. That's not data. That's called a case-study: a dinner party you went which generated some conversation is not "data" that has been gathered with any random/controled methodology.

Want me to talk about my dinner party too?

Pleeaaase. Stick to real information. And when do you talk about your dinner party conversation, do your best to resist using terms like "data" that give an artifical sense of substance by the misappropraition of sematics. This doesn't suggest that there isn't anything meaningful to be gained by talking about what your dinner party comrades had to say. Only that the meaning should be properly categorized in its non-sampling context which negates the use of terms like "data".

Wow. So now you attack me on the use of the word "data." I meant it in its most basic meaning as "something given," from its latin origin of datum. You really got a bee in your bonnet if you're going to "attack," what I wrote for something so inane.

It would be like me pointing out that I didn't use "data," as a metaphor, so therefor you bringing in semantics is extremely pointless.

Since you feel the need to be the grammar police... it wouldn't be conjecture. I don't think anyone here is forming a theory without sufficient evidence.

It's not a theory, WB and New Line are "for sale." The highest bidder will get their exclusive partnership. It would be conjecture to state one is going to go one way.

I've speculated on why I think MS might throw more money at WB than Sony, but it's pure speculation. It doesn't stop the fact that WB is currently letting the two formats bid over their future exclusive partnership.

DaVID Boulet,

Dude, calm down!

Lotus' post, which you are correct, would be considered a case study, or if more than one person at the dinner party felt the same way, a study with a small study group.

Either way it IS data!

He posted an opinion, and yes, some recently acquired data, no need to attach him nor to feel you have been attacked!
