I never called you personally a fanboi, I was referring to those who have said things like they would rather HDM die rather than go Blu-Ray or that they will never buy Blu-Ray because they hate Sony, you have claimed to own both formats so I wouldn't think that applied to you.

As for my opinions that's exactly what they are, my opinions, while I don't research all the manufactures sites or read every blog that mentions HDM or whatever it is that you do to come up with your opinions I do use common sense & personal observations.
Common sense like when I said the Studios care about media sales & you said they only care about hardware sales.
I used common sense & you talked to engineers & directors & from the WB decision my common sense was closer than you might have liked to admit.

Oh & since I consider your statement about me "makes you sound like an uneducated bigot." to be a direct personal attack I'm reporting your post & hopefully you'll end up wherever Dolbyblue landed.

I didn't think you were calling me a "fanboi," but I stand by thinking that your use of the word "Fanboi," makes you look like a BD Bigot or PS3 Bigot. You obviously took it personally without stopping and thinking about what I politely wrote you:

I even went on to defend my stance. These people aren't "bad people," they invested in what they could based on many factors that were important to them. Just because you love your PS3 doesn't make the people that picked HD-DVD "fanbois," or "haters," if they're upset about how this "War," is ending.

Calling someone a "Fanboi," is just rude and lacks class. It is the behavior of a PS3 or BD Bigot. What is the old saying? "You can tell a Bigot, but you can't tell him much." Why not the term "Fan boy?" Because "Fanboi," is so much ruder. That's why you used it.

I don't read other forums or sites. I do however read marketing research materials on the subjects because I help invest money in stock. So I read what research groups say about how the consumer feels. I also ask consumers who come to my family's store when I'm there.

Right and WB pointed out that set top boxes on BD outsold HD-DVD at the end of the year and thus made their decision. That is hardware sales.

Not really. The deciding factor was that set top boxes finally had a BD edge to them. That was what did it according to their CEO.

It does make you sound that way. I'm not sure you know what a bigot is. This isn't meant disrespectfully but I've had people think it meant racist and other nonsense before. So the definition for you:

"bigot
A person who is religiously attached to a particular computer, language, operating system, editor, or other tool usually found with a specifier."

I think a lot of people have a hard time understand what a FORMAT WAR is.

A FORMAT WAR is when two rival formats battle it out.

It's not when multiple formats with equal support battle it out.

FORMAT WAR: Beta vs VHS. VHS had more studio (and porn) support. In the end they won.

Not a Format WAR: Cable vs Satelite. These two different formats have for the most part equal support from networks.

FORMAT WAR: DVD-A vs SACD. Neither format caught on and neither format got any real music studio backing. The best selling disc on either format was Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon on SACD. Despite that no other Floyd albums ever made it to SACD.

Not a Format WAR: LCD vs Plasma.

FORMAT WAR: HD-DVD vs BD.

If HD-DVD and BD had equal and universal Studio Support it would just be a CE market share battle and consumers would care less and just buy what was best for them.

Daddy's angry. Do you know how freaking insane it is when I have to consult an urban dictionary to decipher the lingo being thrown around on this forum. Years ago a 'fanboy' was a guy hanging outside my local comic shop. Now, I don't know what the difference is between fanboy and fanboi other than to say ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Is this what this topic has come down to? I thought we were past all this. dobyblue is gone people. As for the word bigot, NO, absolutely not. I don't care what the context or 'other' meaning is, to 99% of the rest of the universe the word bigot is inflammatory and unacceptable. Now, since I'm not down with the latest internet lingo I believe that there was not direct ill intent, that being said it appeared that way. I appreciate the somewhat clarifying remarks but come on, this is a slippery slope at best and one I don't EVER want to see traversed on this forum again. Both guilty parties are, in fact, guilty. I received the Apple TV yesterday, but the software update to rent high-def movies is not yet available. It’s pretty cool otherwise. I'll post a mini review of the movie quality when it becomes available. In fact, I'll rent a movie which I already own on HD DVD and flip back & forth to compare.

I bought a few Blu-ray movies after the Warner announcement, but I’m back to being HD DVD only and I figure I’ll use the Apple TV to rent the titles that are only available on Blu-ray. Should HD DVD fail, I’m going to hold out and look into one of those “super up-converting” DVD players Toshiba was showing off at CES.
