Tower of Power didn't have any hits. Earth Wind and Fire were HIGHLY ranked. Chicago was on the list. Certain judges liked them. Others didn't

Wow, no love for SRV & Double Trouble. The Stones are way too low.
Oh well, to each his own. |

Jerry, I guess the hit or favorite, "What is Hip' by Tower of Power sold too few records. That is the song that crossed over, and they are best known for.

Jerry, Forgot to mention that I ordered Blood, Sweat and Tears hybrid SACD on Mobile Fidelity label from musicdirect.com. With there hits "And When I Die", "Spinning Wheel" and of course "You Make me So Very Happy". I should receive it tomorrow if UPS tracking is right. I`ll report on the sound in a couple of days.

By far, Cream (i.e. Jack Bruce) & YES are 2 of the top 10 bands of all time. I'm not picking them by popularity, but by muscian/musical talent and impact on the music industry. I don't consider Black Sabbath a top 10 (definetly in the top 100) but look at heavy metal bands now. Black Sabbath is by far the Grandfather of heavy metal, which I'm referencing my point of "impact on music". Led Zeppelin could be a top 10 band, too.

GNR, OZZY, AC/DC etc. are still played in every arena in the country during football games etc. because of popularity. Today's artists are going to out sell older artists because more people have more access to buy than ever before. I also think you would have to have more categories and specific criteria to narrow down best bands. Too many opinions! |
