Which speaker cable is best?

@rbinck - Just to make sure I have this right. Place the sub in your listening chair, then you move to the spots around the room listening to the sound, and working out in which spot the the sub in your listening chair sounds the best?

Then move the sub to that spot?

@emccaff - that is a simple solution thanks. However there could be other reasons that it does not make a difference - and that is maybe the system is rubbish!

Although I do think this is a good tip.

"trim off a fresh inch of bright copper." I would tin the tips with a good electrical (silver) solder. Heat the wire to the insulation which will close any air-gap.

Some people have applied super glue to the insulation end to eliminate air gap.

So the air gap just promotes corrosion or does it have an importance in the signal in the cable?

A good idea to tin (silver) solder the ends.

Yes it promotes promotes corrosion which in turn could affect the signal. Realistically it would take several years to matter though.
