What are the pros and cons of active shielded cables over non-active shielded cables?

Applying a bias voltage to the dielectric of interconnect cables will allow them to be much better microphones. See http://www.audioholics.com/education...asing-debunked.

I figured that. What is in the "box" of MIT cables and Transparent cables?

I believe it is some kind of impedance compensation network. I have to chuckle when I go to the MIT website and see a photo of the box, with an adjustment knob that shows "Articulation" and the two extreme positions are "More" and "Less"
